Conceptual Artists are Idiots

Posted by Joe under General

I mean people like Tracy Emin and Damian Hirst

Why?

When I was about 12 or 13, I used to enjoy ‘trying to be different’ – as did most of my friends. During the most of our teen years we enjoyed twisting words and ideas and generally trying to be wierd and different.

Like most young people, we thought we were the first people ever to think ’sideways’ and spot hypocrisy and idiocy in the world in general.
Playing childish games with high-school level philosophy was fun then.

Hopefully most of us have grown up and now realise that, entertaining as it may be, it isn’t clever and it isn’t original.

Which makes it uneccesary.

Quote from Tracy Emin:

‘I have just come out with my most profound sentence for the week. And that sentence was: “Actually, there is no tomorrow.” My office stood still and everyone looked at me. After a few seconds thought, they nodded sternly. “She’s right,” they said, “there is no tomorrow.” ‘

In your case, Tracy, I wish it true.
